More Freedom

So Rock Star has taken matters into his own hands and this thing we call a gig is over. When I was 21, I met a band that I ended up working for 12 years. I was prepared for nightclub retirement when it was finished. I was called upon after about 2 months of "rest". Started working for RS using the system I helped put together at my last day job. It was a fun gig. 4 drummers, 3 bass players, 5 singers, 3 keyboard players and 4.5 years later its done. Well, done for me anyway. it's almost funny how the timing worked. I am taking a trailer, driving 6 hours west to pick up the rest of my fiance's stuff. i am taking the week of vacation I get once a year and spending it with her.
I don't know whats gonna happen. My life has been surrounded by driving to gigs, getting directions, advancing shows, mixing on some garage band PA, mixing on massive Vertec, EAW and X-array. One of my faves was a MT4 rig from DB sound at Elliot Hall-Purdue. I WONT miss most of the corporate gigs. I dont care if they throw 100 pound bricks of $20 bills at you-corporate gigs suck. Spend 19 hours trapped in the Hyatt, go to the hotel martini bar to kill time, only to pay $9 for a fricking Heineken. All the while the buyer is bitching about everything.
So I guess I will get on with phase 3 of my life. my beautiful wife to be could care less about the gigs anyway. She likes me because I have a large........blog.

Freedom

I have 4 more days of freedom. If anyone wants to party-and your buying-let me know. My Fiance is moving here this weekend. We are excited, looking forward to actually getting more than 5 days in a row together.

Van Halen PIII

Well I guess I mis-blogged but who cares. I posted pics first then text. Myself, Tay and a couple of associates we work with scored six tix to VH. Tay and myself were planning on driving down with the associates and meeting Devo and Tyler. We all met up at the bar accross from Conseco Fieldhouse along with the entire southside of Indy.
After some serious pounding of drinks, we head in and find our seats. I was 20-30 feet from FOH, I could almost read the screen on his Smaart-live mac. FOHguy had a digidesign new console-(2 actually-the support used their own-kinda defeats the purpose of a digital board?)A small rack and an entire Protools setup with large monitor.
The band opened with You Really Got Me. Frickin great.
Robere's Likes:
Lighting was awesome.
Video looked great.
Sold out.
Wolfgang looked like he was on his 17th year of touring-not 17 years old.
David Lee was pro- not cocky.
Big Line Array!
Set list!
seeing the guy who essentially inspired me to play.
Robere's dislikes:
The mix in general- DLR's voice was buried.
Drum kit came and went.
The background vox were too perfect, I know it would be hard to sequence with a freeform rock band-but maybe?
I know that Conseco is a 155 feet from the floor the ceiling- it is a nightmare of a room, but I have heard 2 really good mixes in there.
Oh well, he's much better than me-he's got the gig!

Overall, it was great. seeing Devo get out of the house-he's one of the most devoted fathers you will ever meet.
Hanging out with my partner in crime-Tay,he's one of the most devoted GOLFERS you'll ever meet.

Wear me the F**k out

I'm worn out, no energy. I cant imagine having kids. So much to do at home, and at work, and band stuff and I just don't have the energy.
