A Note From Mr. Moore

Friends,

This happy, happy day!

We have made it through the Dark Ages and here we are, in one of the most redemptive moments history has ever witnessed. Barack Obama is our best hope to get it right, to heal our national soul, to reach out to the rest of the world with an olive branch instead of shocking brutality.

I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who has worked to make this day happen. For many, the madness goes back, not eight years but twenty-eight years, to the tragic day Reagan was sworn in to dismantle our precious "government of the people" and our beloved way of life.

To all of you who have spoken up and spoken out, who have written letters and marched for peace, for all of you who never gave up, you are the true heroes today. Many of you have suffered great economic losses. Some of you have endured a loved one being shipped overseas to senseless and shameful wars, and thousands of you have seen those loved ones returned home, no longer alive. It has been a heartbreaking time.

But the sun comes out at noon today. The disgraced outgoing president will slide out the side door and head to Crawford to sell the Hollywood set known as the Bush "ranch" before he settles down in an exclusive neighborhood in Dallas. I would encourage Mr. Bush to issue one final pardon before noon today -- his own. He had better issue a blanket pardon for all crimes that may have been committed since 2001 by himself, Cheney, Rumsfeld and the whole gang. Serious laws were broken, a war was concocted on a lie, and now, please, justice must be carried out.

So let us move forward and fix the horrible mess we are in. We are fortunate to have a new president who is smart and kind and committed to serving his country. Take a moment today and think about what you can do to join him in helping him do his job. We're all in this together. Our country has been so profoundly wrecked by an administration who decided to mug our constitution and then steal what they can for their Wall Street cronies on the way out the door.

Here is my plea: Let's not leave Barack Obama alone to clean up the mess. As he takes his oath today, please take one yourself -- to work harder than ever to end these wars, create universal health care, save our planet, end poverty, increase knowledge and establish a true government "of, by and for the people" (instead of "of, by and for the lobbyists, the bankers, and the war profiteers").

On a personal note, it's no secret that I have had to suffer an avalanche of hate and attack as I stuck my neck out to simply do my job. Some day I will tell you what the true cost of this has been for me, but not today. Today is a time for celebration and optimism and hope. I'm glad we all lived to see this incredible moment. And I thank each of you for your support of my work and your dedication to our democracy.

12:01pm can't come soon enough! Happy Inauguration Day!

Yours,
Michael Moore

Score another for Bush

Here's another example of how delusional some of the right wingers can be- a tongue-in-cheek article from Bush's first days in office. Click on the title or copy the link:

That is some gall!

About two months ago, Shannon and I ate dinner somewhere. That night I was crippled with pain.I thought it was heartburn, the reason is, I rarely get heartburn. I'm one of the lucky people that rarely gets heartburn or allergies of any kind. So I sat up all night, thinking it was heartburn, realized it was 5am and went to work.
About a week or two later, same thing happened. When it happened the third time, I found a new Dr here in the new burb. He suggested taking a three week routine to see if it is acid reflux.
Well, I guess it wasn't acid reflux. I called the office and they scheduled an Ultrasound to look at something. I went in at 8:30am. Drove to work afterwards and received a call from the Doctor. Here's the cool part(IMHO), The tech did the ultrasound, made a zip file of all the images, then emailed them to my Dr, who called me 4 hours later to let me know that I had 3 large gall stones and needed to have my Gall bladder removed. 15-20 years ago, someone would have to process the images, then make prints, snail-mail them to the Doctor, wait for him to go thru his mail to call me and let me know what they found. All the while I would have missed another 2-3 days of work.
So he refers me to a surgeon, who scheduled the procedure.I was put under abt 1pm, woke up at 3:30,and I was home at 8pm. After downing half a bottle of vicodin I'm back about 70%.

Is this how it works?

As Sen. John McCain bowed out of the historic presidential election Tuesday night, he urged his supporters to bridge their differences with Sen. Barack Obama and unite for the good of the country.

Supporters of John McCain react as their candidate concedes in Phoenix, Arizona.

"Sen. Obama and I have had and argued our differences, and he has prevailed. No doubt many of those differences remain. These are difficult times for our country. And I pledge to him tonight to do all in my power to help him lead us through the many challenges we face," he said.

Just the mention of the Democrat's name elicited boos from the sea of teary-eyed McCain supporters at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix, Arizona.

Members of the dejected crowd shouted "no way!" when McCain promised to work with Obama.

The Who Sell Out

"Let's just hope to God he wins," he said. "Let's be honest, with the standing in the rest of the world of America today, with what George Bush has done to your country, it is inconceivable to me that Americans would vote in another Republican. It would be kind of really, really weird if they win again. You just sometimes wonder, what if, just what if (John) McCain did win. The signals that would send to the rest of the world!"

Goodbye old house

Friday Shannon and I went to our closing, everything went well. We stopped for a celebratory dinner afterwards, then looked at house stuff at a couple stores. We have another 7 days before the move so we are trying to resist buying a lot of stuff- so we went home. Abt 10 pm we were both doing a little channel and internet surfing when the apocolypse came down. A tornando touched down about 5 miles from our house. We were lucky- the only damage we dealt with was 2 ft of water in the basement. My favorite strat, amp, and pedalboard were floating in the water. I can't wait to move.

Closing in

So the Wife and I-(it's not legal yet-sorry mom and grandparents, but she's my wife to me) are meeting with a bunch of suits on Friday to sign our names over 600 times. It's called a closing, not sure what it is-Shannon handles that end of the knowledge department. This will be our first home. At 36 I decided what was important to me was my family, a nice home and the security of a good job. NOT worrying about free beers at a crappy bar gig or whether or not we get free food.
Pretty excited about having a nice place to call my own. The house is a production home, about 4 years old and in perfect shape. There are real hardwood floors and a nice unpainted crown moulding on the main floor. We can do four things to help with the equity:change the linoleum floors in the kitchen and 2.5 baths to a simple tile, paint the main floor walls and trim, deck on the back, and privacy fence.
I guess I am going to try and post pics of our trials and tribulations. Were moving in on June 8Th and 9Th if anyone wants to help.
