Somebody really needs to inform Perez Hilton that Lady Gaga is a woman. She doesn't sleep with gay men. ......Or does she????????All of his swooning will not convert her into a gay man with a penis.

Worst Band Ever

Sorry, I read Rolling Stone. A great x-mas gift from my wife. I am realizing that I really only read it for the articles. Apparently I don't read it for the music.

Case in point:
I read a very enthusiastic article obviously written by a fan. The "artist" is MGMT. (thats pronounced management for those of you not on the up)Now, either the writer is a big fan, or a really good writer. The day after I read the story, I logged in to my Rhapsody account (3rd greatest invention) and pulled up a playlist. The first song starts out with some droning, boring, non-rythmical pattern. I lasted about 40 seconds, gave it the benefit of the doubt by scanning to the chorus. Even worse. I skipped to the next song in the playlist, with the same results. After giving the third song the boot I cleared the playlist and searched for something with a little soul. (I recently discovered a live James Brown bootleg in my iTunes library that I must have lifted from a clients library. Two words, BAD ASS)

So, after thumbing through the issue again this evening, I realized something about the cover- Once again its the Black Eyed Peas. Please spare us from more bad, annoying rap with aerobic music. (And take Lady Gaga with you to the pit of despair)
When will their 15 minutes expire?

I even gave MGMT another chance. I was watching a tape of last weekends Saturday Night Live. (I have to tape it now since I can't stay up to watch-how times have changed) Dark, depressed, staring at the floor, no soul, no groove, and most of all, no talent. YOU ARE ON NATIONAL TV. You don't have to do a full on Bruce Springsteen but come on! If you hate your own music that much, please make your band a tax write-off for the label and go away.

iPad review

Not impressed, too bulky to sit and surf or read. I could imagine your hands would tire from holding it on a plane. Seems clumsy enough to drop when shifting from hand to hand. The screen looks brilliant, especially on the maps app. I only had a few full screen apps to look at, mainly USAtoday. This was the best thing I found. The weather app with radar map was cool, but- if you have WiFi, there are a million options to consider.
I guess if you don't want to carry a $1400 laptop, and just surf the net-this would be the option. Otherwise, my MBPro runs programs and lets me upload information. My iPhone lets me take pics, and make phone calls and SMS messages-on a 3G network.
So, if you are stuck riding in a car for a period of time, there's a better chance of dropping the 'pad than the iPhone.
I just found out I can text message to my blog, and send an email.

Bulldogs

Congrats to the Butler Bulldogs. It's Saturday night, and they just defeated MSU to go to the final game. Last time I was excited was the year Indiana played Maryland and lost. (2001?) It's been a bad year for my teams. Red Sox missed the World Series and the 'Effing Yankees won. The Colts lost to the Saints. At this point just seeing the "dawgs" get to the Final Four a mere 36 blocks from their campus was cool enough. Not a big sports guy, but Its a nice feeling to see the home teams do well.
In other news, I was finally able to purchase a new Macbook Pro. My wife caved in and let me put it on our Best Buy card. I used to enjoy working on my PC at work, only 1.5 years old, dual 19" monitors, fairly fast. Now I loathe just powering it on. My little MBPro sits next to the monitors, looking like a toy, but I can actually work on the Pro while waiting for the PC to reconnect to the server. I guess it may be the server, not the PC, but after a an exhaustive search of the network, the problem still alludes everyone.
Snow Leopard seems to work fairly well. My last Mac was a G4 running Tiger. Transferred most of my older programs, 50Gig of music, and re-assigned the iPhone to Mac. It seems to actually seem happier now, I don't know how-my old iPod reacted the same way-but it's definitely working better.
Too-da-loo.

Honeymoon

Ft Morgan Alabama. A little history trip during my honeymoon. The fort was built during or before the civil war. It was a testament to bricklayers. 100+ years later, probably 10 hurricanes and it is still solid.

The newest, fastest communication device on the planet. I have been missing my mac for a while now. This will suffice until Shannon gets me a macbook for my birthday. Getting married in 3 more weeks.

A Note From Mr. Moore

Friends,

This happy, happy day!

We have made it through the Dark Ages and here we are, in one of the most redemptive moments history has ever witnessed. Barack Obama is our best hope to get it right, to heal our national soul, to reach out to the rest of the world with an olive branch instead of shocking brutality.

I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who has worked to make this day happen. For many, the madness goes back, not eight years but twenty-eight years, to the tragic day Reagan was sworn in to dismantle our precious "government of the people" and our beloved way of life.

To all of you who have spoken up and spoken out, who have written letters and marched for peace, for all of you who never gave up, you are the true heroes today. Many of you have suffered great economic losses. Some of you have endured a loved one being shipped overseas to senseless and shameful wars, and thousands of you have seen those loved ones returned home, no longer alive. It has been a heartbreaking time.

But the sun comes out at noon today. The disgraced outgoing president will slide out the side door and head to Crawford to sell the Hollywood set known as the Bush "ranch" before he settles down in an exclusive neighborhood in Dallas. I would encourage Mr. Bush to issue one final pardon before noon today -- his own. He had better issue a blanket pardon for all crimes that may have been committed since 2001 by himself, Cheney, Rumsfeld and the whole gang. Serious laws were broken, a war was concocted on a lie, and now, please, justice must be carried out.

So let us move forward and fix the horrible mess we are in. We are fortunate to have a new president who is smart and kind and committed to serving his country. Take a moment today and think about what you can do to join him in helping him do his job. We're all in this together. Our country has been so profoundly wrecked by an administration who decided to mug our constitution and then steal what they can for their Wall Street cronies on the way out the door.

Here is my plea: Let's not leave Barack Obama alone to clean up the mess. As he takes his oath today, please take one yourself -- to work harder than ever to end these wars, create universal health care, save our planet, end poverty, increase knowledge and establish a true government "of, by and for the people" (instead of "of, by and for the lobbyists, the bankers, and the war profiteers").

On a personal note, it's no secret that I have had to suffer an avalanche of hate and attack as I stuck my neck out to simply do my job. Some day I will tell you what the true cost of this has been for me, but not today. Today is a time for celebration and optimism and hope. I'm glad we all lived to see this incredible moment. And I thank each of you for your support of my work and your dedication to our democracy.

12:01pm can't come soon enough! Happy Inauguration Day!

Yours,
Michael Moore
