The Who Sell Out
"Let's just hope to God he wins," he said. "Let's be honest, with the standing in the rest of the world of America today, with what George Bush has done to your country, it is inconceivable to me that Americans would vote in another Republican. It would be kind of really, really weird if they win again. You just sometimes wonder, what if, just what if (John) McCain did win. The signals that would send to the rest of the world!"

Goodbye old house
Friday Shannon and I went to our closing, everything went well. We stopped for a celebratory dinner afterwards, then looked at house stuff at a couple stores. We have another 7 days before the move so we are trying to resist buying a lot of stuff- so we went home. Abt 10 pm we were both doing a little channel and internet surfing when the apocolypse came down. A tornando touched down about 5 miles from our house. We were lucky- the only damage we dealt with was 2 ft of water in the basement. My favorite strat, amp, and pedalboard were floating in the water. I can't wait to move.

Closing in

So the Wife and I-(it's not legal yet-sorry mom and grandparents, but she's my wife to me) are meeting with a bunch of suits on Friday to sign our names over 600 times. It's called a closing, not sure what it is-Shannon handles that end of the knowledge department. This will be our first home. At 36 I decided what was important to me was my family, a nice home and the security of a good job. NOT worrying about free beers at a crappy bar gig or whether or not we get free food.
Pretty excited about having a nice place to call my own. The house is a production home, about 4 years old and in perfect shape. There are real hardwood floors and a nice unpainted crown moulding on the main floor. We can do four things to help with the equity:change the linoleum floors in the kitchen and 2.5 baths to a simple tile, paint the main floor walls and trim, deck on the back, and privacy fence.
I guess I am going to try and post pics of our trials and tribulations. Were moving in on June 8Th and 9Th if anyone wants to help.

Guitar Geekery
Guitar Stuff I dig.

Two Rock amplifiers, perfect Dumble replica.

One of my favorites, I loved this amp. Fender Tonemaster.

Newer maple neck 60's re-issue

54 strat, only $60,000 at Gruhn.com
Add a pair of tube screamers, a Boss DD2, Marshall Greenback cab for the TwoRock and thats all I need. And some talent.

Movie Geek
Some Movies I dig:
Goodfellas
Gotta start with one of the best. The screenplay is close to the actual story-(Read WISEGUY or Henry Hill's follow up) and the camera work is perfect. Pesci.
Glengarry Glen Ross
Probably the best casting job ever. Pacino and Spacey, Jack Lemmon-when he pretends to be the client...Alec Baldwins cameo and David Mamets screenplay." First prize: A Cadillac El Dorado, second prize- a set of steak knives"
Hoffa
Nicholson's best performance IMHO. Watch old recordings and films of Hoffa and Jacks performance is spot-on. Danny Devito directed an excellent film. Also written by David Mamet. One note- Devitos character was written into the screenplay.
The Shawshank Redemption-The Green Mile
I put them together since they are both written and directed by the same guys- Stephen King and Frank Darabont. Camera movement, character development and story.
JFK
Say what you will about Costner and Oliver Stone. I loved this movie, I piss off my Fiance' every time I see this on the guide because the closing arguments scene, and the interview with the prisoner portrayed by Kevin Bacon are damn near perfect. Oliver sure can edit. He was doing all those crappy music video tricks long before anyone." How do you know who yo daddy is??-cause yo mama told you so!!"
Slingblade
3 words: Dwight Fucking Yoakam
The Professional
Natalie Portmans second film. The sequence of the girl coming home from the store to find her family murdered, knocks on Leon's door, when he opens the door, the light and music cue perfectly. Gary Oldman is always perfect
Thats a short list for now

Screw Ford Motor Co.

So I have a 2004 Explorer XLT. I am probably one of 2,439,655 people in the US that own this car. I bought it Dec 2005 with low miles and love it. It doesn't have all the features of the upgraded models or the Excursion. It does have a keyless entry pad on the driver door. I always thought this was the coolest. If you live in a large city- Indy being the 12th largest in the country- you get nervous leaving your car running. You go out in your driveway to warm it up, you pull in to a convenience store, or you don't want to carry your keys into a concert.
I bought the car from a used dealer. When the chick was running through the car before I drove off 2 things were apparent: A-it was really fricking cold and she wanted to get inside, B: she had never sold a Ford Explorer.
That's fine but I said-"Where do I find the code to the side door?" Her- "[pause].......It's in the owners manual"
About a week later I go through the book and nothing that helps me. I work with one guy formerly of Ford corporate, he made a call or two to friends and they said to bring it in and they will attach the diagnostic and tell me the code- for a measly $150!
So today I am fed up and start googling this process. I find a forum where someone has written in "how to" in my explorer. I spend about 5 minutes and there it is. Why are auto manufacturers such bastards? How could telling someone where and how be so difficult?

My Dream-carry in a van-Rig.

Simple self-powered sub, a block of them one guy can carry

Kudo Line-Array, only 35" wide, Need to find an affordable, portable way to fly or stack...

OK, still sticking with the copper snake, but the flexibility of sub-snake and multiple runs for monitors or pro-tools.

Dolby Lake Processor-nuff said.

Mid Priced Digi board. I've always loved Yamaha consoles. Maybe add an outboard TC delay, SPX990, and a pair of Distressors, UPS surge protector, a 10-15 space rack and thats all you need at FOH.
